Interferent Red Pearl Pigment that Gives Skin Natural Reddish Appearance
Youthful skin is often characterized by its reddish tone. However, due to changes in the skin which occur during the aging process, the skin slowly looses this reddish tone and begins to take on more of a yellowish appearance. In addition, during the aging process, the top layers of the skin become less transparent and therefore, the skin’s ability to give off this reddish tone is dramatically reduced.
To reduce these effects of aging, the conventional approach used by the makeup industry involved using a red iron-oxide based powder to give the skin a reddish appearance. Unfortunately, these colored facial powders really did not provide the natural look which most customers desired, since the use of such powders actually covers the transparent layer of the skin.
HV45-PM20 is a powder which uses interferent Red Pearl Pigment as the base for the pigment. However, in addition to using the ultra fine acrylic powder as the final coating for the material, the mica is first treated with a titanium dioxide coating (TiO2). TiO2 coating can allow red light to be reflected from the skin through the inside of the powder rather than directly off the surface of the powder. This method of reflection gives the skin the natural reddish appearance it needs. Also, since the TiO2 coated mica powder is colorless, and the reddish tint is given off by diffused light rather than by the powder color itself, a more natural appearance is achieved.
Once HV45-PM20 penetrates areas of the skin where shadows can form, the ultra fine acrylic powder coating will disperse incident light rays to many different directions, thus eliminating the shadows and making the wrinkles less noticeable.
